It has been 60 years since Mao addressed On the Ten Major Relationships at the enlarged conference of CPC Political Bureau on April 25th,1956. On the Ten Major Relationships is a preface to socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics and the rudimentary theoretical issues discussed still carry significant influence on writing a new chapter of socialist political economic development with Chinese characteristics. The vitality of socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics lies in its compatibility with the requirements for constructing a well-off society in a comprehensive way, as well as in its integration with Chinese economic realities and accordingly developing into a theoretical logic for Chinese socialism construction. It is central for writing a new chapter of socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics to base ourselves upon current economic reform and development, and to persistently uphold and expand the Chinese-realities-based stand and thought firmly extolled in On the Ten Major Relationships.
